As of July 25, 2026, the Peter Rabbit Organics recall remains limited to selected Banana & Strawberry fruit purée pouches sold at Target, Kroger and Meijer. The FDA has not announced additional flavors or best-before dates, and no injuries have been reported.
PT Organics Limited of Lake Oswego, Oregon, voluntarily recalled the products on July 21 because a packaging defect could allow a strand of soft, food-grade plastic to enter the purée.
Which Peter Rabbit Organics pouches are recalled?
The recall covers 4-ounce (113-gram) Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry Fruit Purée pouches sold nationwide from March 6 through July 13, 2026.
Consumers should check for all three identifiers:
- Barcode: 8 15367 01078 0
- Production lane: Number 4
- Best-before date: One of the six dates listed below
The affected best-before dates are:
- January 19, 2027
- January 20, 2027
- March 17, 2027
- March 18, 2027
- May 14, 2027
- May 15, 2027
A matching date alone does not confirm that a pouch is recalled. The flavor, size, barcode, lane number and date must all match the official notice.
Where are the recall codes printed?
The barcode and best-before date are stamped in black ink on the back of the pouch. The lane number appears on the rear right-hand seam, where affected products display the number 4.
Parents and caregivers should check pouches stored in cupboards, lunch bags and diaper bags. The packaging may look normal, and children often consume purée directly through the spout without its contents being inspected first.

What caused the recall?
The action began after PT Organics’ packaging supplier recalled a production run of defective pouches. Inspections of finished products made with that material found a soft plastic strand attached inside a small number of packages.
The strand could enter the purée when the pouch is squeezed. The announcement identifies a packaging problem rather than bacterial contamination, an undeclared allergen or an issue with the fruit ingredients.
Foreign-material recalls require careful code checking because they generally apply only to specified batches. A separate peanut butter recall involving blue plastic fragments affected institutional food-service products, while the Pillsbury rolls recall over possible glass contamination involved refrigerated dough products with different identifying details.
What should consumers do?
Do not open, taste or serve a pouch that matches the recalled identifiers, even if no plastic is visible. PT Organics advises consumers to dispose of it safely or return it to the place of purchase.
The official announcement does not state whether a receipt is required or provide a separate refund procedure. Customers should confirm the applicable return policy with Target, Kroger or Meijer.

Are other flavors or products affected?
No other Pumpkin Tree-branded products, flavors or best-before dates are included. The FDA notice does not disclose the total number of pouches involved or assign a Class I, II or III recall classification.
