PlayStation Plus Offers Free 12-Month Membership as Sony Reveals June 2026 Games

Sony gave PlayStation Plus members three games to claim in June 2026 and tied its annual Days of Play event to a tournament sweepstakes with a 12-month Premium membership among the prizes. The claim window and competition have since closed, but games added to a member’s library remain playable while the required subscription is active.

The promotion brought several separate offers together: Monthly Games for every membership tier, an additional Game Catalog release for higher tiers, subscription discounts and tournament rewards. Each benefit had its own deadline and eligibility rules.

June 2026 at a glance

  • Three Monthly Games were available from June 2 to July 6.
  • Days of Play ran from May 27 to June 10.
  • The tournament prize included 12 months of PlayStation Plus Premium.
  • EA Sports FC 26 remained claimable until June 16.
  • Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2025) entered the Game Catalog on June 9.

The three games members could claim

Grounded Fully Yoked Edition was available on PS5 and PS4. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the survival adventure shrinks players to the size of an insect and places them in a hazardous backyard. It supports solo play and online cooperation for up to four people.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 brought platform fighting to PS5 and PS4 with characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jimmy Neutron and other Nickelodeon properties.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, offered only on PS5, completed the lineup. Its missions are designed around four-player cooperative combat, mixing firearms with close-range weapons in the city of Tertium.

All three titles were available to Essential, Extra and Premium or Deluxe members through July 6. Regional lineups could vary. Claiming a game before the deadline added it to the member’s library, but continued access requires an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

A competition, not a free membership for everyone

The 12-month membership offer was part of the Days of Play PlayStation Tournaments sweepstakes. It was not a complimentary subscription available to every account.

Players who participated in at least one eligible tournament match between May 27 and June 10 received a themed avatar and were automatically entered into the sweepstakes where local rules permitted.

The winner’s package included a PlayStation Portal, a DualSense Edge wireless controller, 12 months of PlayStation Plus Premium and $100 in PlayStation Store credit. The player recording the most tournament wins in each eligible region could receive the same package.

Participating titles included Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, Gran Turismo 7, NBA 2K26, Astro Bot and Fortnite. Available games and sweepstakes eligibility differed between countries, making the regional rules an important part of the offer.

Subscription savings came with renewal conditions

Eligible new subscribers could receive discounts of up to 33% on a 12-month plan during Days of Play. Existing Essential and Extra members could save 33% on the remaining portion of their subscription when moving to Premium or Deluxe.

The exact saving depended on the account, tier and country. Discounted memberships continued as recurring subscriptions unless cancelled, with future payments charged at the applicable PlayStation Store price.

That renewal detail became more important following the previously reported changes to PlayStation Plus subscription prices. A promotional first-year cost does not necessarily represent what the same plan will cost at its next renewal.

June brought more than Monthly Games

Sony extended the May Monthly Game EA Sports FC 26 until June 16 and offered an Icons Pack to eligible members who had the game and required updates.

Extra and Premium or Deluxe members received Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2025), including The Final Shape, through the Game Catalog on June 9. Bungie used the same date to release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2, while confirming that the game would remain playable.

The wider June catalog later added games including Final Fantasy XVI, Sonic X Shadow Generations and Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Catalog access works differently from Monthly Games: a title can become unavailable if Sony removes it from the service.

Why the deadlines matter now

As of July 31, the Days of Play contest and June Monthly Games claim period are over. Members who missed the deadlines cannot add those games or enter the sweepstakes retrospectively.

Players planning their next purchase should also distinguish between confirmed subscription releases and games expected to be sold separately. That applies to high-profile projects such as the reported Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 storyline, which was not part of Sony’s June offer.

Current Monthly Games, catalog changes and regional availability can be checked through the official PlayStation Plus news page.
