Australians planning domestic travel over the next year have a new chance to secure cheaper fares after Qantas launched a major sale covering 1.4 million economy seats across its domestic network. With one-way fares starting from $105 on selected routes, the promotion is aimed at travellers booking holidays, family visits and short breaks well ahead of peak travel periods.
The sale applies to travel between July 22, 2026, and May 23, 2027, giving passengers access to discounted flights across school holidays, Christmas and Easter. The scale of the offer is notable, with Qantas placing seats on sale across 190 routes serving almost 60 destinations nationwide.
For budget-conscious travellers, the lowest advertised fares are likely to draw the most attention. Sydney to Byron Bay is available from $105 one-way, while Melbourne to Adelaide and Melbourne to Hobart can be booked from $129. Flights from Sydney to the Gold Coast are also available from $129, giving travellers cheaper options on popular leisure routes.
Regional destinations included in the Qantas sale
The offer is not limited to major city routes. QantasLink regional services are also included, with fares from Sydney to Armidale, Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga and Albury starting from $149 one-way. That gives travellers more affordable access to regional centres that often have fewer flight options than capital-city routes.
Qantas says 33 routes are priced below $150 one-way, while 59 routes are available for less than $200. For passengers who can compare dates and avoid the busiest departure times, the sale could provide meaningful savings across domestic travel plans.
Qantas Domestic chief executive Markus Svensson said the airline wants to make it easier for customers to plan ahead. He said early bookings can help travellers organise trips for school holidays, Christmas and Easter with one fewer thing to worry about.
Large airline sales often attract strong demand quickly, especially on routes linking major cities with coastal destinations. Travellers searching for the cheapest fares may have a better chance if they are flexible with travel dates, departure times and destination choices.
What travellers should check before booking
Although the advertised fares are among the lowest available on selected routes, passengers should review booking conditions carefully before making a reservation. Travel dates, baggage allowances, fare changes and seat availability can vary depending on the route selected. Current domestic fare offers can be checked through the Qantas domestic flight deals page.

The latest promotion arrives as airlines continue balancing passenger demand with higher operating costs. While travellers are seeing periodic discounts, broader airfare trends remain influenced by fuel prices, staffing expenses and capacity management. This helps explain why Qantas and Virgin are raising airfares despite cheap flight deals, even as carriers continue using large sales to fill seats.
The Qantas sale is scheduled to end at 11:59pm on June 16, unless tickets sell out earlier. With 1.4 million discounted seats available across nearly 60 destinations, travellers planning domestic trips through early 2027 may find that booking early offers the best chance of securing the lowest fares.
