A dramatic wildlife video from Assam’s Manas National Park has gone viral after a rhinoceros was seen charging at a safari vehicle inside the Bansbari forest range.
The clip shows the rhino moving aggressively toward the safari vehicle on a narrow forest track, creating tense moments for those onboard. The animal appears to come close to the vehicle and strike it during the encounter, underlining how quickly a wildlife safari can turn unpredictable.
Manas National Park is one of Assam’s most important protected forest landscapes and is known for its rich biodiversity. The official Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve website describes it as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, as well as a tiger reserve, elephant reserve and biosphere reserve.
Viral rhino charge sparks safari safety debate
The video has renewed concern over visitor safety inside protected forest areas, especially during close encounters with large wild animals. Rhinos are powerful and unpredictable, and even a short charge can put tourists, drivers and guides at serious risk.
Wildlife experts and forest officials regularly advise safari visitors to remain calm, follow guide instructions and avoid pressuring drivers to move closer to animals. Loud reactions, sudden movements and poor vehicle positioning can increase danger during such encounters.
The Manas video is a reminder that national parks are animal habitats first and tourist destinations second. Responsible safari behaviour, trained drivers and strict distance discipline remain essential for keeping both visitors and wildlife safe.
