Millions of Social Security beneficiaries are set to receive their next monthly payment on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, as the Social Security Administration sends out the final regular retirement, survivor and disability benefit wave for June.
The payment applies to beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st of any month, according to the official Social Security payment calendar. The date is part of the SSAâs standard Wednesday-based schedule, which divides many monthly benefit payments by birthdate.
For retirees and other beneficiaries watching their bank accounts closely, the June 24 deposit is not a bonus or extra payment. It is the regular June benefit for the final birthdate group under the SSA schedule.
Who gets paid on June 24
The June 24 Social Security payment is scheduled for beneficiaries who meet the SSAâs Wednesday payment rules and were born from the 21st through the 31st of the month.
That typically includes people receiving retirement, survivor or disability benefits who started receiving Social Security after May 1997. Under the standard payment cycle, beneficiaries born from the 1st to 10th are paid on the second Wednesday, those born from the 11th to 20th are paid on the third Wednesday, and those born from the 21st to 31st are paid on the fourth Wednesday.
Juneâs payment calendar has followed that same pattern. Beneficiaries in the first birthdate group received payments on June 10, while those born from the 11th to 20th were scheduled for June 17. Readers tracking the earlier round can also see Swikblogâs related coverage of the June 17 Social Security payment schedule.
Not everyone follows the Wednesday birthdate system. People who started receiving Social Security before May 1997 usually receive benefits on the 3rd day of the month. Those who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income generally receive SSI on the 1st and Social Security on the 3rd.
For June 2026, SSI payments were issued on Monday, June 1. Social Security payments for pre-May 1997 beneficiaries and dual Social Security/SSI recipients were scheduled for Wednesday, June 3.
SSI payment dates still ahead in 2026
Supplemental Security Income follows a different schedule from regular Social Security retirement payments. SSI is generally paid on the first business day of the month, but payments can shift earlier when the first day falls on a weekend or federal holiday.
Remaining SSI payment dates listed for 2026 include July 1 for July, July 31 for August, September 1, October 1, October 30 for November, December 1, and December 31 for January 2027.
Beneficiaries who still rely on mailed checks should also pay close attention to payment delivery changes. Swikblog has covered the shift in its guide to Social Security paper checks ending before 2027, including what recipients may need to do to avoid delays.
Social Security funding pressure adds wider concern
The June 24 payment comes as Social Securityâs long-term finances remain under national scrutiny. The latest Social Security Trustees summary projects that the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund can pay full scheduled benefits until the fourth quarter of 2032. After that, continuing income would cover about 78% of scheduled benefits unless lawmakers act.
That does not mean Social Security payments would stop. Payroll taxes and other income would continue flowing into the system. But the projection has raised fresh concern among retirees, workers nearing retirement and younger Americans already questioning how much of todayâs benefit structure will remain in place over the long term.
For current beneficiaries, the immediate focus remains simpler: checking the correct payment date, watching for direct deposit, and allowing extra time if a mailed payment does not arrive on schedule. The June 24 round closes the main Social Security payment cycle for June, with the next regular SSI payment due at the start of July.
