Emergency services were called to Rossmore Avenue in Punchbowl at about 5:50pm on September 9 following reports of a shooting.
According to ABC News, paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he could not be saved.
The victim had not been publicly identified at the time of publication. Early reports indicated he was believed to be a man in his 20s.

One of the key lines of inquiry surrounds a vehicle reportedly seen driving away from the area following the shooting.
Police established a crime scene around the community centre as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Authorities have not indicated that Wednesday’s killing is connected to the June incident, and there is currently no confirmed evidence linking the latest shooting to organised crime or any other recent attack.
