KFC Confirms Nationwide Breakfast Rollout Across Australia After Sydney Airport Trial

KFC Australia is taking its breakfast experiment beyond Sydney Airport, with a 16-restaurant trial planned for the Gold Coast. The company has not yet announced the participating stores, launch date or breakfast hours.

The pilot follows the Morning Meals test launched at Sydney Airport in December 2025. Although some reports have described the move as a nationwide launch, breakfast is not yet available across KFC’s entire Australian network.

As of July 18, 2026, the Gold Coast trial is the latest confirmed expansion. A wider rollout will depend on demand, operating costs and agreements with franchise partners.

Where and when will KFC breakfast be available?

KFC has confirmed that 16 Gold Coast restaurants will join the next trial, but it has not published their names or addresses. Customers should not assume every outlet in the region will participate.

No start date, serving hours or trial period has been announced. Individual restaurants may follow different schedules based on staffing, location and morning demand.

Customers can check the official KFC Australia restaurant finder or select a location in the KFC app. Breakfast products should appear on the local ordering menu when available.

What is on the Morning Meals menu?

The Sydney Airport range provides the best indication of what could be offered on the Gold Coast. KFC has not confirmed that every trial product will appear at all participating restaurants.

  • Original Crispy Brekkie Tower
  • Zinger Brekkie Tower
  • Breakfast wraps and bacon-and-egg rolls
  • Chicken toasties and hash browns
  • Avocado on toast
  • A bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato option
  • Hot coffee, iced coffee and tea

The Brekkie Towers combine an Original Crispy or Zinger chicken fillet with bacon, egg and a hash brown. Other products give customers more conventional breakfast choices.

How much will KFC breakfast cost?

KFC has not released a complete Gold Coast price list. Avocado on toast was reported from $3.95 during the airport trial, but that price is not guaranteed at other restaurants.

Prices may vary by store and ordering method. Delivery platforms may charge higher menu prices and additional fees. KFC has not announced a free-breakfast offer, membership requirement or promotional code for the rollout.

Why KFC is entering the breakfast market

Collins Foods chief executive Xavier Simonet said breakfast accounts for about 27% of Australian fast-food spending. Collins Foods is the country’s largest KFC franchisee and will operate the Gold Coast pilot.

KFC has less exposure to morning trade than McDonald’s, Hungry Jack’s and Guzman y Gomez. McDonald’s extended its Australian breakfast service in 2026 while adjusting other offers, including changes to the McSmart meal range.

KFC’s chicken-focused breakfast burgers provide a point of difference. Coffee, avocado toast and bacon-and-egg products broaden the range for customers who may not want fried chicken early in the day.

Why the rollout is being tested first

Breakfast requires earlier staff shifts, coffee equipment, additional ingredients and changes to kitchen preparation. These costs could make morning service unsuitable for restaurants with limited breakfast demand.

The Gold Coast pilot should provide a better measure of suburban and drive-through demand than an airport trial. KFC can assess sales, order speed, staffing costs and repeat visits before expanding further.

Collins Foods increases its focus on KFC

Collins Foods operated 295 KFC restaurants in Australia at the end of its 2026 financial year. KFC Australia revenue rose 7.6% to $1.24 billion during the 53 weeks ended May 3, while same-store sales increased 2.7%.

The company reported total group revenue of $1.59 billion and statutory net profit of $47.1 million. These figures cover Collins Foods and do not represent every Australian KFC restaurant.

The trial comes as Collins Foods concentrates on its core chicken operations. The company recently detailed plans to transfer or close its Australian Taco Bell restaurants, allowing greater attention to be directed towards KFC.

What customers should check

Before visiting, customers should confirm that their selected restaurant serves Morning Meals and check its breakfast hours, menu, prices and ordering options.

No nationwide completion date has been announced. Expansion beyond the 16 Gold Coast restaurants will depend on the pilot’s results and decisions made with franchise partners.
