Fatal Stabbing Near Queen Victoria Market
According to Victoria Police, two food delivery riders noticed a man allegedly interfering with their bicycles outside a restaurant.
The riders approached him, and an altercation followed. Both workers suffered suspected stab wounds.
A restaurant employee told 7NEWS that the confrontation began after a man allegedly kicked over two bicycles. Witness footage reportedly captured part of the dispute near parked buses, although the stabbing itself was not clearly visible.
Feng reportedly returned to the restaurant and attempted to collect a delivery order before feeling unwell. Staff noticed he was bleeding and called for emergency assistance.
Paramedics performed CPR, but Feng was pronounced dead around 8:20 p.m.
The second rider, aged 34, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jianming Feng’s Life and Family in China
Feng originally came from China’s Shaanxi Province and moved to Australia around 2017 to earn money for his family.
His wife, Xu, 52, told 7NEWS that he had not returned to China during his nine years overseas. The couple had been married for nearly 30 years and had two children in their 20s.
Feng regularly sent money home and helped pay for nursing home care for his elderly father, who had suffered a stroke. The care reportedly cost between 4,000 and 5,000 yuan monthly.
He had hoped to return to China within the next year or two, potentially around his son’s wedding.
Wife Recalls Final Video Call Before Stabbing
Xu said she last spoke with her husband by video call around 1:50 p.m. Friday, just hours before the stabbing.
Their conversation involved his delivery work and a family matter concerning a photograph needed for her identification renewal.
After hearing about the attack, she repeatedly tried calling him but received no response. She later recognised his delivery bag and face in footage circulating online.
His family is now seeking justice and assistance with arrangements to travel to Australia.
Footscray Man Arrested in Homicide Investigation
Victoria Police Homicide Squad detectives arrested a 51-year-old Footscray man on Saturday morning, November 7.
Police believe the individuals involved were strangers and said they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
The man remained in custody awaiting questioning when police issued their initial statement. Charges and a court appearance had not been confirmed in that update.
The investigation is separate from another recent Dandenong stabbing incident, which left three adults injured and prompted a nearby school lockdown.
HungryPanda Issues Statement Following Rider’s Death
HungryPanda confirmed Feng was registered with its delivery platform and expressed condolences to his family.
The company said it had established a dedicated response team to assist relatives and was cooperating with police.
The death has also renewed attention on the safety of food delivery workers, particularly those collecting orders during evening shifts.
The case follows an unrelated South Melbourne tram stabbing reported in October. Authorities have not established any connection between the incidents.
Police Investigation and Latest Developments
Detectives are examining witness accounts and available footage to establish the circumstances of the confrontation and identify additional evidence.
Police have not publicly confirmed a motive or whether a weapon was recovered.
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000.
For Feng’s family, the investigation comes alongside the immediate challenge of arranging travel to Australia and coping with the loss of their primary income earner.
