Families across Eastern Ontario are facing a full Upper Canada District School Board bus cancellation today after the Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario (STEO) announced that all transportation is cancelled for Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

In a notice posted to the official STEO.ca transportation status page at 5:36 a.m. Eastern Time, the consortium stated that every bus route it manages has been suspended ā€œdue to forecasted severe weather and road conditions.ā€ The timestamp originally displayed as 4:06 p.m. reflected Indian Standard Time, not local Canadian time.

Severe Weather Risk Prompts Region-Wide Shutdown

The cancellation affects buses serving both the Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, covering a broad region that includes communities such as Brockville, Cornwall, Kemptville, Prescott, Winchester and dozens of rural routes in between. Forecasts point to a volatile mix of snow, ice and poor visibility overnight – conditions that can quickly turn side roads and rural highways treacherous for large school vehicles.

On severe-weather days, schools in the Upper Canada District School Board often remain open, but attendance is left to family discretion and programming may be adjusted based on staffing levels. Parents are encouraged to watch for additional messages from their school or board regarding supervision, exams and after-school activities.

What Families Should Do This Morning

STEO’s advisory means that no yellow buses, special-needs vehicles or other student transportation contracted through the consortium will operate today. Families who still need to travel are urged to drive with caution and build in extra time. Winter driving guidance from Transport Canada stresses slowing down, avoiding sudden braking and ensuring vehicles are properly equipped with winter tires and emergency kits.

As the storm system moves through Eastern Ontario, STEO says it will continue to monitor conditions and will update its channels if the weather worsens or if further decisions are required for the days ahead.
