Zara’s PSP Bag Is Bringing Sony’s Handheld Era Back in Style

Fashion retailer Zara has unexpectedly tapped into gaming nostalgia with a new accessory inspired by Sony’s legendary PlayStation Portable, better known as the PSP. The company is now selling a PSP-themed crossbody bag that closely recreates the design of the handheld console many gamers grew up carrying in the 2000s.

The accessory immediately caught attention online because of how closely it resembles Sony’s original portable gaming device. The front side of the bag mirrors the PSP’s shape, including its recognizable button layout and a vinyl-style touch screen panel. On the rear, Zara added the handheld-inspired PSP logo inside a silver circular design that looks similar to the original hardware styling.

The shoulder strap also leans heavily into PlayStation branding. It features Sony’s iconic Square, Circle, Triangle and Cross symbols, making the bag instantly recognizable to longtime PlayStation fans.

The PSP nostalgia factor is driving interest

The PSP remains one of Sony’s most beloved gaming devices because it represented a major shift in portable gaming when it launched. Unlike many handheld systems at the time, Sony’s device delivered console-style visuals, multimedia features and a sleek design that stood out from competitors.

For many players, the PSP was tied to a specific gaming era filled with titles like God of War: Chains of Olympus, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. That emotional connection is a major reason why Zara’s bag is attracting attention despite being a fashion accessory rather than a gaming product.

The nostalgia feels even stronger today because Sony has largely stepped away from traditional handheld gaming hardware. Over the past several years, the company’s only official handheld-related device has been the PlayStation Portal, which focuses on online remote play rather than standalone portable gaming.

Price and availability

Zara’s PSP crossbody bag is currently listed for $35.90 in the United States and around $37.90 in Canada, making it relatively affordable compared to many gaming collectibles and limited-edition accessories.

According to the official Zara product listing, the bag includes a zippered main compartment and adjustable strap. While compact in size, the product is clearly designed more as a statement accessory for gaming fans than as a large everyday carry bag.

Gaming-inspired fashion has become increasingly popular as retro gaming culture continues to grow online. Consoles once viewed simply as hardware are now part of pop culture nostalgia, especially for millennials who grew up during the PSP era.

Zara’s new accessory may not replace the feeling of holding an actual PSP, but for many longtime gamers, it is a reminder of one of Sony’s most memorable gaming generations.
