Farnborough International Airshow 2026 entered its second day on Tuesday, July 21, after opening with major aircraft orders, engine agreements and flying demonstrations in Hampshire.
Day One generated an estimated $48.8 billion in announced orders and commitments. British Airways selected Pratt & Whitney engines for up to 63 Airbus jets, while Eve Air Mobility unveiled agreements covering as many as 46 electric aircraft.

Tuesday’s flying display is scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m. BST. It includes commercial aircraft, fast jets, electric demonstrators and the UAE’s Fursan Al Emarat aerobatic team.

What happened during the Day One display?
Monday’s programme ran from approximately 1:10 p.m. to 4 p.m. It featured the Red Devils parachute team, F-35A, Airbus A350, Chinook, Embraer C-390, Eurofighter Typhoon and Bombardier Global 8000.
The Airbus A350 represented long-haul commercial aviation. The same aircraft family is central to Qantas’ Project Sunrise plans, although its proposed 22-hour London flights depend on an updated Airbus delivery schedule.
Vertical Aerospace and BETA Technologies demonstrated different electric-aircraft concepts. Vertical’s design uses vertical take-off and landing, while BETA’s CX300 operates from a conventional runway.
Demonstration flights do not mean these aircraft are ready for unrestricted passenger service. Manufacturers must complete testing, certification and regulatory approval before commercial operations can begin.
British Airways chooses GTF engines
British Airways selected Pratt & Whitney GTF engines for 33 firm Airbus A320neo-family aircraft and 30 options. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.
The agreement includes a 12-year EngineWise Comprehensive maintenance contract. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the 30 options should not be treated as completed aircraft purchases.
This is an engine selection for aircraft within British Airways’ fleet plans rather than a new order for 63 Airbus jets. The airline has not announced which routes will receive the GTF-powered aircraft.
Pratt & Whitney says its geared-fan design reduces fuel consumption and noise compared with previous-generation engines. However, actual savings depend on aircraft configuration, route length and operating conditions.
Eve announces up to 46 eVTOL commitments
Embraer-backed Eve Air Mobility disclosed two letters of intent. Moov’s agreement covers up to 30 eVTOL aircraft, while Shearwater Global Capital signed for up to 16.
Eve and Moov will examine possible services in Cabo Verde and Europe, including inter-island transport, sightseeing, airport transfers, medical missions and infrastructure inspections.
The Eve 100 is initially designed for four passengers and one pilot, with a proposed range of about 100 kilometres. Its full-scale prototype first flew in December 2025 and remains in flight testing.
Eve said on July 20 that it was advancing its international certification programme. The agreements remain dependent on final contracts, financing and regulatory approval, with no confirmed passenger launch date.
Largest aircraft orders announced
SMBC Aviation Capital placed orders for 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and 100 Airbus A320neo-family jets. Philippine Airlines committed to as many as 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, comprising 15 firm aircraft and five purchase options.
Riyadh Air converted options for another 28 Boeing 787s and added six Airbus A350-1000s to its firm commitments. BOC Aviation separately ordered up to 300 CFM LEAP engines.
Order totals require careful interpretation because announcements can combine firm purchases, options and preliminary commitments. Options may be exercised later, while letters of intent can change before final contracts are signed.

Public day, tickets and transport
The airshow runs through Friday, July 24. Friday is Pioneers of Tomorrow, the designated public and careers day. Friday-only tickets cannot be used during the earlier trade days.
Farnborough Main is the recommended railway station. Direct trains from London Waterloo can take about 35 minutes, with free event shuttles operating from Farnborough Main, North Camp and Aldershot.
General parking is at Queens Parade, Aldershot, GU11 2JL. Shuttle buses connect the parking area with the venue, but visitors should allow extra time for congestion and security screening.
Aircraft can be withdrawn at short notice, as happened when a late change affected the Warbirds Over Wānaka flying programme. Visitors should check the official Farnborough aircraft listing before travelling.
