CPP Payments 2026: August 27 Payment Date, Amounts and Eligibility

Canadians receiving federal retirement benefits have an important payment date approaching. The next Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) payments are scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026, with individual deposits depending on contribution history, age, residency and income.

The August payment is part of the regular federal schedule, not a new one-time bonus. CPP remains at its 2026 indexed rate, while OAS is being paid at the higher July-to-September level introduced after a 1.2% quarterly increase.

CPP and OAS payment date for August 2026

August 27 is the scheduled payment date for CPP, OAS, the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), Allowance and Allowance for the Survivor. Direct-deposit recipients should generally receive funds around that date, although individual bank posting times can vary.

People receiving payments by cheque should allow extra delivery time. Canadians managing federal accounts online should also remain alert to requests for banking details following the CRA account breach settlement involving compromised government accounts.

How much CPP can Canadians receive in 2026?

CPP benefits already in pay increased by 2.0% for 2026, with the annual adjustment taking effect in January. CPP is indexed once a year, so there is no separate August increase.

The maximum new CPP retirement pension starting at age 65 in January 2026 is $1,507.65 per month. The latest published average for new beneficiaries at age 65 was $877.01 per month as of April 2026.

Actual payments can be substantially lower than the maximum because CPP depends on earnings and contribution history. Starting CPP at 60 can reduce the pension by up to 36% compared with starting at 65, while delaying it to age 70 can increase monthly payments by up to 42%.

OAS amounts increased for July to September

OAS benefits increased by 1.2% for the July-to-September 2026 quarter. The maximum monthly pension is now $751.97 for people aged 65 to 74 and $827.17 for those aged 75 and older.

The higher rate for seniors aged 75 and over includes the permanent 10% enhancement for that age group. A full OAS pension generally requires 40 years of Canadian residence after age 18, while eligible people with 10 to 39 years may receive a partial pension.

Income can reduce an OAS payment

The maximum OAS figures should not be confused with guaranteed payments. For the July 2026-to-June 2027 recovery period, 2025 net world income above $93,454 triggers the OAS recovery tax at 15% of income above the threshold.

OAS can be fully recovered at approximately $152,062 for recipients aged 65 to 74 and $157,923 for those aged 75 and over. Residency and income rules therefore help explain why two seniors of the same age may receive different deposits.

How much can GIS recipients receive?

Low-income OAS recipients may qualify for the Guaranteed Income Supplement. A single, widowed or divorced senior meeting the applicable income rules can receive up to $1,123.17 per month for July through September.

A person receiving both the maximum OAS pension and maximum GIS could receive approximately $1,875.14 for the month. GIS is non-taxable, while the basic OAS pension is taxable.

Another OAS increase is coming in October

OAS benefits will increase another 1.4% for October through December 2026. Applying that adjustment to the current maximums would put monthly OAS at approximately $762.50 for ages 65 to 74 and $838.75 for people aged 75 and older.

The October adjustment also applies to GIS, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor. The first scheduled payment under the higher quarterly rate is October 28, 2026.

Remaining CPP and OAS payment dates in 2026

After August 27, the remaining scheduled CPP and OAS payment dates are September 25, October 28, November 26 and December 22, 2026. The December payment is scheduled earlier than the usual late-month pattern.

Recipients can confirm payment dates and benefit information through the Government of Canada benefits payment calendar. Anyone expecting a payment should keep direct-deposit and contact information current and use official government channels if a scheduled deposit does not arrive.
