Liverpool Lands £300M Turkish Airlines Shirt Deal, Ending 17-Year Standard Chartered Era

LIVERPOOL — Liverpool FC will end one of the Premier League’s longest-running shirt sponsorship eras after confirming Turkish Airlines as its new Main Club Partner from June 1, 2027. The airline will replace Standard Chartered on the front of Liverpool’s men’s, women’s and Academy match shirts beginning with the 2027-28 season.

The five-year agreement is reported to be worth more than £300 million, putting its value above £60 million per season. Liverpool has confirmed the partnership but has not disclosed the financial terms, meaning the £300 million figure remains media-reported rather than an official club valuation.

When will Liverpool wear Turkish Airlines shirts?

There is no immediate change for supporters buying Liverpool kits. Standard Chartered remains the club’s Main Club Partner throughout 2026-27, with Turkish Airlines taking over on June 1, 2027.

In its official partnership announcement, Liverpool confirmed that Turkish Airlines branding will feature across the men’s, women’s and Academy match shirts.

Why the reported £300M deal matters

The scale of the agreement is the biggest financial angle. Liverpool’s existing Standard Chartered shirt arrangement has been widely valued at about £50 million annually. If the reported Turkish Airlines numbers are accurate, Liverpool would receive more than £60 million a year from the new deal.

That would mean an increase of at least £10 million per season from the club’s most prominent sponsorship position.

The agreement has also been described as a record-level Premier League front-of-shirt deal. Comparisons require care, however, because sponsorship packages at rival clubs can include different commercial rights. Liverpool has not released a detailed financial breakdown.

Standard Chartered’s Liverpool relationship isn’t ending

The 2027 change will end Standard Chartered’s 17-year run on the front of Liverpool shirts, but the bank is not leaving the club.

Standard Chartered, Liverpool’s Main Club Partner since 2010, will move into a Global Partner role from the 2027-28 season.

For supporters, that means the most visible part of the partnership is changing while the broader commercial relationship continues.

Why Turkish Airlines and Liverpool fit together

International reach is central to the agreement. Liverpool has supporters around the world, while Turkish Airlines operates one of aviation’s largest international networks through Istanbul.

There is also a powerful historical connection. Liverpool chief commercial officer Ben Latty referenced Istanbul 2005, where the club recovered from 3-0 down against AC Milan before winning the Champions League final on penalties.

Turkish Airlines already has a substantial presence in international sport, including football, making Liverpool another major platform for expanding its global brand.

A rare change to the front of Liverpool’s shirt

Liverpool has a long history with shirt sponsorship. Hitachi became the club’s first shirt sponsor in 1979, followed by Crown Paints, Candy, Carlsberg and Standard Chartered.

Carlsberg occupied the position from 1992 until Standard Chartered arrived in 2010. Turkish Airlines will therefore become only the latest name in a relatively short sponsorship lineage stretching across almost five decades.

Commercial growth strengthens Liverpool’s position

The agreement comes during a period of significant commercial growth at Liverpool. The club recently reported record annual revenue of about £703 million, while its Adidas kit agreement has separately been reported at around £90 million per year.

Those figures underline why sponsorship negotiations matter beyond the logo on a shirt. Reliable commercial income supports the wider operation, including wages, infrastructure and squad investment, although sponsorship revenue is not automatically a transfer budget.

Supporters following developments around the playing squad can also track the latest Hugo Ekitike injury update at Liverpool as the club balances its sporting and financial priorities.

Premier League clubs are competing off the pitch too

Liverpool’s deal highlights an increasingly important contest among England’s biggest clubs: attracting global companies willing to pay premium prices for Premier League exposure.

The worldwide attention generated by leading clubs extends from commercial deals to individual performances, including Bruno Fernandes’ Premier League assists record at Manchester United.

For Liverpool supporters, however, the most obvious change arrives in 2027-28. After 17 seasons of Standard Chartered branding, Turkish Airlines will occupy the front of Liverpool’s match shirts — marking a new commercial era at Anfield.
