OpenAI is pushing ChatGPT deeper into Wall Street with ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized platform designed to help banks and investment firms research companies, analyze financial data and create models, spreadsheets and presentations.
Developed with Morgan Stanley and Evercore as design partners, the product targets professional finance teams where analysts spend substantial time gathering information, comparing companies and preparing deal materials.
OpenAI is positioning the platform as a productivity tool rather than a replacement for bankers. However, its ability to move from raw financial information to an editable model or presentation could significantly change entry-level work.
ChatGPT can turn financial research into a pitchbook
In a launch demonstration, ChatGPT evaluated a potential acquisition target, selected comparable companies, collected financial figures and created a formatted PowerPoint presentation using a bank’s existing style guide.
Finance teams can also test how changes in revenue growth or other assumptions affect valuation. The resulting analysis can be converted into an editable Excel model, presentation or web-based dashboard.
Institutions can work with professional information from providers including Daloopa, PitchBook, Crunchbase and LSEG News. Supported Bloomberg and FactSet subscriptions can also be connected. OpenAI’s official financial-services platform lists research, valuations, scenario testing and connected institutional data among its main use cases.
The system provides citations so analysts can trace figures to their original sources and review charts before using them in research reports, models or client presentations.

Morgan Stanley and Evercore helped shape features around the formatting, confidentiality and review requirements of investment banks. Organizations can preload branded presentation templates and internal working formats, reducing the time employees spend recreating standard documents.
Junior bankers could experience the biggest change
Junior investment bankers frequently research companies, update comparable-company tables, maintain models and format pitchbooks. If AI handles more of this production work, employees may spend more time evaluating assumptions, interpreting results and preparing for client discussions.
The change also creates a training challenge. Repetitive assignments traditionally help young bankers understand how valuations and transactions are constructed. Firms will need to ensure employees still develop the judgment required to identify incorrect calculations or questionable assumptions.
Security remains critical because banks handle confidential client information and unpublished deal material. Available controls include encryption, SAML single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, role-based access and configurable data-retention policies. Human review will still be required before AI-generated material influences financial decisions.
OpenAI also faces growing competition. Google’s Gemini 3.8 Flash launch demonstrates how quickly rival platforms are expanding into professional workflows, while Anthropic and major banks are developing their own financial AI systems.
ChatGPT for Financial Services shows Wall Street moving from limited AI experiments toward connected daily workflows. Bankers are unlikely to disappear, but their value may increasingly depend on judgment, verification and accountability rather than manual document production.
