Holly Leeann Flores, 37, Accused of Stabbing Husband and Two Young Children in Texas

NORTHLAKE, Texas, October 8, 2026 — A Texas mother accused of stabbing her husband and two young children is facing attempted capital murder charges after a violent early-morning incident at the family’s Northlake home. Newly released court documents reveal details of her husband’s desperate 911 call, a struggle involving a kitchen knife and five previous police welfare visits.

Holly Leeann Flores, 37, was arrested October 6 after officers responded to a residence on Daylily Drive, northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth. Her husband, Justin Hommel, 34, their 3-year-old daughter and 10-month-old son were injured. All three survived, with authorities expecting the children to recover.

Husband’s 911 Call Reveals Moments Before Police Arrived

According to the arrest affidavit, Hommel called 911 at approximately 4:20 a.m., reporting that his wife had attacked him with a knife.

Dispatchers reportedly heard screaming in the background as Hommel attempted to reach his children. Police arrived within minutes, detained Flores and entered the home.

Officers discovered the two children suffering from stab wounds to their chests. Both were rushed to a Fort Worth hospital, while Hommel received treatment for a head injury.

Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford said the children’s injuries were serious but were not believed to be life-threatening.

Kitchen Knife and Late-Night Argument Detailed in Affidavit

Hours before the attack, Hommel reportedly woke between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. after hearing a lighter.

He told investigators he found Flores lighting a candle in a bedroom and noticed a kitchen knife on a dresser. The couple argued before he returned to sleep on the living room couch.

Later, Hommel heard the children crying. When he approached the bedroom, Flores allegedly confronted him with the knife.

Investigators documented a forehead wound and bite marks on his arms following the struggle. Hommel reportedly managed to take the knife away.

The arrest affidavit reported by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth describes the husband’s account. The allegations have not been tested at trial.

Police Visited Texas Family Home Five Times Since March

Authorities confirmed that officers had responded to the residence approximately five times since March 2026 for welfare-related concerns.

Chief Crawford said the earlier calls came from inside the home rather than neighbors. Court documents also referenced previous welfare concerns and possible overdoses.

Police have not disclosed the circumstances of every visit or established whether earlier incidents were directly connected to the stabbing.

Husband Reported Postpartum Depression and Behavior Changes

Hommel told investigators that Flores had been struggling with postpartum depression and displaying concerning changes in behavior.

He said those concerns partly explained why he had been sleeping on the couch near the children.

According to court documents, Flores expressed suicidal thoughts while being transported for medical treatment. She later requested an attorney when questioned by investigators.

Authorities have not confirmed a psychiatric diagnosis or determined whether a mental health condition contributed to the alleged attack.

Postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis are different conditions. Neither should be assumed to explain violence without medical evidence.

Holly Leeann Flores Faces Attempted Capital Murder Charges

Flores faces two counts of attempted capital murder involving children younger than 10 and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

She received treatment for a minor injury before being transferred to the Denton County Jail. Investigators have not announced a confirmed motive or final court outcome.

The case follows other family tragedies that have raised questions about child safety, including a Houston mother-daughter case involving a custody dispute. Authorities have not identified a custody dispute as a factor in Northlake.

Children’s Recovery and Investigation Remain in Focus

Police have not publicly confirmed when the children will leave hospital or provided a detailed explanation of the previous welfare calls.

Questions also remain about whether Flores was receiving treatment before the incident and when her next court hearing will take place.

Separate reporting on the Brighton sisters’ deaths inquest illustrates how investigations into family tragedies can reveal information over time, although the circumstances differ significantly.

For the Northlake family, the immediate priority remains the recovery of the injured children and their father. Flores is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
