Big Brother Canada Returns After Cancellation as Bell Media Revives Reality TV Giant for 2027

After months of speculation about the future of one of Canada’s most recognizable reality TV franchises, Big Brother Canada is officially returning in 2027. Bell Media announced on June 4 that it has ordered a new season of the series for Crave and CTV while also securing Canadian rights to future seasons of Big Brother USA beginning in summer 2027.

The move marks a major expansion of Bell Media’s reality television portfolio and brings the globally successful Big Brother brand under one Canadian media company. For longtime fans who feared the franchise had reached its end following its cancellation, the announcement represents a significant comeback for the series.

Bell Media Revives Big Brother Canada for Crave and CTV

According to Bell Media, production on the new season of Big Brother Canada is scheduled to begin in MontrĂŠal in spring 2027. The series will be produced by Entourage, the company behind Quebec’s successful Big Brother CĂŠlĂŠbritĂŠs, in association with Crave and CTV.

Canadian television personality Andrea Bain, known as a co-host of CTV’s The Social, has been confirmed as host of the returning season. Additional details regarding casting and premiere dates are expected to be announced later.

The announcement also follows a period of uncertainty for the franchise. Industry observers had questioned the future of the format after Big Brother ended its 26-year run on Global, making Bell Media’s decision to invest in both the Canadian and U.S. versions particularly noteworthy.

Bell Media’s agreement with Banijay Rights, the global distribution arm of Banijay Entertainment, not only brings back the Canadian edition but also gives the company access to future seasons of Big Brother USA, which will air on CTV and stream on Crave starting in 2027.

What Else Is Included in the Deal?

Beyond the new season, Bell Media has acquired the complete Big Brother Canada library. All 12 previous seasons are expected to become available on Crave, allowing viewers to revisit past houseguests, memorable competitions, and iconic moments from the show’s history.

The company is also adding those seasons alongside the extensive collection of Big Brother CĂŠlĂŠbritĂŠs, the French-language adaptation that has become a strong performer in Quebec. Bell Media noted that Season 6 of Big Brother CĂŠlĂŠbritĂŠs was the top original reality series of Winter 2026 and generated nearly 4.7 million combined views across Crave and Noovo.ca.

The return of Big Brother Canada is backed by one of television’s most successful formats. First launched in the Netherlands in 1999, Big Brother has expanded to more than 70 markets worldwide and generated over 600 versions globally. The format remains a major ratings performer in countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Italy, and India.

Bell Media executives said the company sees the franchise as an important addition to its content lineup and a powerful entertainment brand capable of attracting audiences across both traditional television and streaming platforms. More details about the new season can be found through Bell Media’s official announcement.

With a new host, a MontrĂŠal production base, streaming support from Crave, and future U.S. seasons joining the lineup, the 2027 revival signals a new chapter for a franchise that continues to be one of reality television’s most recognizable global brands.
