Families planning a trip to Kennywood this summer should be aware of a significant policy change that could affect how children and teens enter the park. Beginning June 12, the historic Pennsylvania amusement park will require guests aged 15 and under to be accompanied by an adult chaperone who is at least 21 years old.
The requirement will remain in effect through September 7 and applies during all regular operating hours. The move represents one of the biggest changes to Kennywood’s youth admission rules in recent years and comes ahead of the park’s busiest summer months.
According to the updated policy, parents, guardians, or other adults aged 21 and older can serve as chaperones if they present a valid government-issued photo ID and complete Kennywood’s chaperone registration process. Each adult may supervise up to six guests aged 15 and under.
The park says chaperones must accompany minors when entering Kennywood and remain inside the park throughout the visit. While they do not need to stay physically with the group at all times, both the adult and the children should be able to communicate with one another while on park grounds.

During Phantom Fall Fest, which runs from September 11 through November 1, guests aged 17 and under must enter with an adult aged 21 or older. Holiday Lights, scheduled from November 13 through January 3, will require chaperones for guests aged 15 and under.
