Costco shoppers who bought a premium Zwilling electric kettle are being urged to check the model number before using it again, after a federal recall linked the appliance to handle failures, hot-water spills and reported burn injuries.
The recall covers about 113,440 ZWILLING Enfinigy and Enfinigy Pro 1.5-liter electric kettles sold in the United States. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, another 43,963 units were sold in Canada and about 48 were sold in Mexico.
The concern is straightforward but serious: the kettle’s handle can loosen or separate from the body of the appliance. If that happens while the kettle is filled with hot water, the contents can spill suddenly and cause burns. Zwilling has received 163 reports involving handles loosening or separating. Five injury reports have been confirmed, including one second-degree burn.
Which Zwilling kettles are recalled?
The recall applies to ZWILLING J.A. Henckels Aktiengesellschaft Enfinigy Kettle 1.5 L and Enfinigy Kettle Pro 1.5 L models. These are electric stainless-steel kettles sold in black, silver, rose, gold and pure-white finishes. The ZWILLING name is printed on the kettle.
The recalled standard Enfinigy Electric Kettle model numbers are:

- 53101-501
- 53101-502
- 53101-503
- 53101-504
Owners can find the model number and the ZWILLING name on the bottom of the kettle and on the bottom of the power base. Consumers should check both locations carefully, especially if the box or receipt is no longer available.
The recalled kettles were sold at Costco warehouses nationwide and on Costco.com from September 2019 through November 2025. They were also sold at HomeGoods stores nationwide and online through Zwilling.com from December 2019 through February 2026. The products retailed for about $120 to $200.
What customers should do now
Consumers should stop using the recalled kettle immediately, even if the handle appears secure. A loose handle may not look dangerous until pressure is placed on it during lifting or pouring, which is when hot water can spill onto hands, arms, legs or feet.
Zwilling is offering a full refund. U.S. consumers are being asked to visit Zwilling’s recall page for instructions, which include unplugging the kettle, cutting the cord, uploading a photo of the product and then safely disposing of it. This recall matters because electric kettles are often used daily and handled while full of near-boiling water. A small failure point, such as a weakening handle connection, can turn a routine kitchen task into a burn injury within seconds. Families with children, older adults or anyone using the appliance in a crowded kitchen should be especially cautious.

The affected kettles were sold over a long period, beginning in 2019, meaning many units may still be sitting on kitchen counters without owners realizing they are included in the recall.
