The FIFA World Cup 2026 schedule has been unveiled, confirming the biggest edition in tournament history with 104 matches, 48 teams and three host nations across North America.
The tournament will begin on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, where Mexico will face South Africa in the opening match. Korea Republic will also play Czechia on the same day in Guadalajara, giving Group A an early start before the action spreads across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
This will be the first World Cup jointly hosted by three countries and the first menâs edition to feature 48 teams. The expanded format will stretch the event across more than five weeks, with matches scheduled in 11 U.S. cities, three Mexican cities and two Canadian cities.
Opening week brings USA, Brazil, Germany and Argentina into focus
Canada will open its campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12, while the United States will begin against Paraguay in Los Angeles on the same day. The first weekend quickly brings several major football nations into the tournament, including Brazil against Morocco in New Jersey, Germany against Curaçao in Houston, Netherlands against Japan in Dallas and Spain against Cabo Verde in Atlanta.
Argentina will start against Algeria in Kansas City on June 16, while France will face Senegal in New Jersey on the same day.
