NBA Finals 2026 Schedule Revealed as Knicks and Thunder Close In on Championship Clash

The 2026 NBA Finals are now on the calendar, but the league still has business to finish before the championship series begins. With the Finals scheduled to open on Wednesday, June 3, the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder have put themselves in the strongest position to reach the last stage of the postseason.

The official NBA schedule confirms that Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals will be played on June 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET, with ABC carrying the full series. Game 2 follows on June 5, before the matchup shifts into the middle part of the series with Games 3 and 4 on June 8 and June 10. If the Finals go long, Games 5, 6 and 7 are set for June 13, June 16 and June 19.

That schedule gives the remaining conference finalists a narrow window to settle two very different races. In the East, the Knicks have taken early command against the Cleveland Cavaliers. New York leads the series 2-0 after winning Game 1 in overtime, 115-104, and then controlling Game 2 with a 109-93 victory. Game 3 moves to Cleveland on Saturday, May 23, followed by Game 4 on Monday, May 25.

The Knicks’ position is especially notable because their playoff route has grown stronger with each round. They beat the Atlanta Hawks 4-2 in the first round and then swept the Philadelphia 76ers 4-0 in the conference semifinals. Philadelphia had already created one of the shocks of the playoffs by eliminating the Boston Celtics in seven games, but New York quickly ended that run with four straight wins.

Cleveland’s path has been far more exhausting. The Cavaliers first survived Toronto in seven games, then beat the top-seeded Detroit Pistons 4-3 in the second round. That Detroit series was dramatic because the Pistons had led early before Cleveland recovered and closed the series with a 125-94 Game 7 win. Now the Cavaliers need another response, this time against a Knicks team that has looked sharper and more physical through two games.

The Western Conference has a different rhythm. Oklahoma City, the defending champion, leads San Antonio 2-1 after three games. The Spurs landed the first punch with a 122-115 double-overtime win in Game 1, but the Thunder answered quickly. OKC won Game 2 by 122-113 and then took Game 3 in San Antonio, 123-108, to regain control of the series.

Oklahoma City has been the most ruthless team in this bracket. The Thunder swept Phoenix in the first round and then swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round, giving them eight straight wins before San Antonio slowed them in the conference finals opener. Their response since then has shown why they remain the clearest title threat still standing.

San Antonio, however, should not be dismissed. The Spurs beat Portland 4-1 in the first round and then handled Minnesota 4-2 in the semifinals. Minnesota had already knocked out Denver, which made San Antonio’s second-round win more meaningful. The Spurs now need Game 4 at home on Sunday, May 24, to stop the Thunder from moving within one win of another Finals appearance.
