UN English Language Day is celebrated annually on 23 April. The day was established in 2010 by the UN Department of Public Information “to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity and to encourage fair use of all six official languages in the Organization.”
23 April, as the date traditionally known as the birthday and death date of William Shakespeare, was selected for the English language.
