User needs to provide their details along with the drone details on the aviation ministry registration portal.

Now buying a drone will become like purchasing a sim card after giving valid id proof and credentials. Purpose to make drone registration mandatory is to keep track of drone activities in different areas through single access to the database.

Also, the government may ask drone manufacturing companies to install a GSM-based tracking system starting from nano and micro drones, which will increase the price of drone from 5000 to 8000 INR.
As per the initial report government will not charge any registration fee for drone weighting from 250 gm to 2kgs, however, users might have to go for a training session of about 5-10 hrs from nano drones and 20-25 hrs for micro drones. There will be strict action against a user who is found flying drones without registration.

Currently in India, around 80 % of drones are micro-drones that are operational. Microdrones are very popular among vloggers and videographers.
This registration activity will also check the violation of drones flying in restricted areas. Still, there are certain parts in a country where videography from any sort of device is strictly prohibited but due to the absence of any checking mechanism, offenders pass unpunished often.
